There have been some few cases of people not been able to pay online. Usually it’s because their credit cards are not open for international transactions or have limits on international transactions. Usually it’s enough to contact your bank regarding that and they can in most cases open up for such transactions. For the record, we don’t accept AMEX credit cards at this moment, but we do accept MasterCard, Maestro, Visa, Visa Electron, JCB and China UnionPay.
Duration: Morning tours, about 9:30 – 12:00. Afternoon tours, about 14:00 – 16:30. More or less 2,5 hours horse experience – the time on the horse back is about 1,5 hours. Pick up and drop off is not included – usually 15-45 minutes before and after. Tours can take shorter or longer time depending on group size and how much preparations is needed, for example it can take slightly more time to prepare in the winter time than summer etc.
We have pick up and drop offs at hotels and guesthouses in Reykjavik downtown and nearby, as well as from Cruise ships docking in Reykjavik. Pick up takes place before the tour starts, for the morning tours it’s approx. between 8:45 and 9:15. For the afternoon tours pick up is approx. between 13:15 and 13:45. Pick up and drop off are inclusive in the price. Please be prepared – there might be other people waiting.
We usually drive from the stables about 12:15-12:30 and are usually back in town with the guests between 12:40 and 13:00 (more or less) and from about 16:45 – 17:00 and are usually back in town with the guests between 17-17:30 (more or less) for the afternoon tours.
We ride in sun, rain, snow and other regular weathers here in Iceland. We cancel rarely, but when we do it’s usually because of high winds, which can be unsafe for riding. In case of weather cancellation on our behalf, we would let you know as early as possible (sometimes it can be in the last minute, as the weather can be unpredictable here in Iceland) and we would try to find a solution for a reschedule or refund.
We ride in day light on our tours, also in the winter on both morning and afternoon tours. Some may notice that the sun doesn’t rise until about 11:30 when the days are shortest and is down again somewhat early, but because of where Iceland is located, we get about 1-1,5 hours extra daylight before sunrise and after sunset. In the winter time it’s dark when you arrive at the morning tour, but it’s daylight before we leave for the riding tour (after intro and preparations) – in the afternoon it’s about to get dark when we finish the riding and sometimes dark when you leave the stables after finishing up after the riding tour. So no worries about daylight time when booking.
Happens when you make the online booking, see info above. In some cases it’s possible to pay at arrival – if you for example book via phone in the last minute.
Please notice that you have to be fit for riding (most people are) – and we can advice against riding if you have any injury or health issues that we evaluate that makes you not capable of riding.
Well, congratulation, but we are sorry to say, that due to safety reasons and for the best for the unborn we do not offer tours for pregnant women.
It’s required to use helmet and helmets are provided at the premises.
The weight limit for one person is about 120 kg (approx. 264 lbs).
The age limit is 12 years for the tours and children up to 16 years old must always be accompanied by riding adults. If younger experienced children would like to join the tour, please contact us for further info.
We have overalls and rain clothes if that should be necessary. We also have some gloves and boots which can be borrowed. But over all, visitors should dress according to weather. Most of our visitors have sneakers or boots on, and that’s in most cases just all right, but especially in the wintertime it can in some cases be good to have something more appropriate on.
Prices for the private tours depends on the duration of the tour and number of participants. Please contact us regarding private tours and prices.
We ride in the vicinity of our stables – in a scenic landscape full of contrasts, lava landscape with pseudo craters and mountain view.
See our website, Location
We welcome beginners and more experienced riders. There is always an introduction to the riding before the tour, which helps both beginners and more experienced riders to enjoy the tour in full.
We do pick up for cruise ships arriving at one of the docks in Reykjavik. It’s important to give us info about the name of the ship so we can send you info about the pick up procedure. At the dock it’s always good to be ready outside and on lookout for us at pick up time – i.e. help us to find you, as there can be many people waiting at the harbor.
The Icelandic horse is qualified travel agency and has educated tour guides.
English, Danish, French, Swedish, Norwegian, Faroese and Icelandic (not always available on all tours)

Please contact us before you book riders which have special needs. Because of safety reasons it’s not self evident that all riders can do the tour, if you have any special needs because of handicap or other special needs. Even if most people can do the tour it’s very good to be sure before you book, it’s no fun for us or you if we need to say at the stables or pick up that you can’t do the tour, so please be sure on beforehand.
